This 2.5 - 3 hour cruise takes you from the river to Lake Michigan for Chicago’s most iconic view of the Independence Day fireworks. No crowds, no chaos, just oohs, ahhs, and a breeze in your hair.

Skip the lawn chairs and the crowds. Wendella’s Independence Day Fireworks Cruise (taking place on the 5th this year) gives you the best seat in the city—no elbowing required. Because every Chicagoan knows the best fireworks view isn’t on land; it’s on the water.

The evening kicks off with a scenic cruise along the Chicago River, offering up-close views of the city’s iconic architecture. Then, you’ll glide through the Chicago Lock and out onto Lake Michigan just in time for the show. You’ll see Navy Pier’s fireworks in all their glory from the open water, bursting above the twinkling skyline.

This is a relaxed, celebratory cruise with festive music, a full-service bar and both open-air and climate-controlled seating. Most guests gather on the upper deck for the full firework experience, but if you need a break from the breeze, you'll find an indoor lounge and restrooms downstairs. It’s not a guided tour, so sit back, move around, and enjoy the view your own way.

Boarding begins 30 minutes before departure, and the boat leaves promptly to secure the best spot on the lake. Cruises run rain or shine, and our boats are built for it. Whether you're celebrating with friends or family, this is Chicago’s most scenic Fourth of July tradition.

• Front-row seat to the fireworks!
• Open-air and indoor seating
• Friendly crew to answer your questions
• Iconic skyline views
• Restrooms on board

We depart rain or shine; Chicago weather is unpredictable, but our boats are built for it. We recommend arriving at the dock 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time since boarding typically begins 15 minutes prior. All bags are subject to screening, and outside alcohol or weapons are not allowed. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable after the scheduled departure time. Not sure where to go? Head to 400 N Michigan Avenue, right by the historic Wrigley Building at the northwest corner of the DuSable (Michigan Avenue) Bridge. For additional info chat with us, or give us a call.

We have a selection of local favorites available for purchase, including snacks, candy, soft drinks, beer, wine, hard seltzer, cider, and cocktails. Find our full Menu here.

Our boats are wheelchair accessible from our West Dock, with a ramp to the upper deck. All of our boats have ADA-compliant restrooms. Some of our boats have an elevator from the upper to lower deck, where the bar and restrooms are located. Please call us in advance on 312-337-1446 so we can assist.
